NJIT/Schering Plough Corporate Club Networking Reception

For a long time, the Material Handling Society of New Jersey (MHS-NJ) has been an avid supporter of higher education in the state. Through annual fund raising activities by its membership, every year it provides scholarships to NJIT’s students whose studies involve material handling.

Students who receive this award are invited to the annual dinner hosted by the society, during which they present their research activities in the areas related to materials handling. In addition to the dinner where our student awardees have the opportunity to interact with practitioners in the field and network with them, the evening includes visits to a state of-the-art Materials handling facility and features a presentation by a renowned speaker addressing current issues that are of importance to the material handling community. Each year, Professor Layek Malek of the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering selects the eligible students for this award based on the society’s recommended criteria which include the students’ scholarly accomplishments,, interest in pursuing their careers in materials handling, and financial needs.

Mr. Donald Cronin an alumnae of NCE’s (NJIT) Department of Civil Engineering, Past President of the Society and currently serving on the Board of Directors and Mr. Chuck Kroner also a past president serving on the Society’s Board of Governors play a major role in organizing an annual golf tournament where most of the funds for the scholarships are raised.
