In the 1952 issue of The Sinfonian, caricatures were drawn by Herbert Hake, Beta Nu (Northern Iowa) '48, of various Fraternity members who had attended the 32nd National Convention held in Cincinnati, Ohio in July 1952. Over a dozen artist renderings were included in the issue.

Brother Hake was a well-known cartoonist, columnist and local Iowa historian. He was admired as the pioneer broadcaster of the University of Northern Iowa, where the campus station KTCF was changed to KHKE in his honor in 1973. He was also a theatre set designer and technical director, and worked for a period of time as a commercial layout artist.

Shown below are four of Brother Hake’s caricatures of some of our most well-known brothers, accompanied with an actual photograph.
