Finding Sinfonia's Pulse

Over the past triennium, Sinfonia has launched a number of initiatives that have brought excitement to its members. A number of these programs have been mentioned in past publications, on the Fraternity's website or simply through word-of-mouth. No matter where they have been publicized, they have been life-changing experiences for both collegians and alumni.

As Sinfonia continues to provide educational programs (Leadership Institute, musical outreach through the Mills Music Mission) and develop future programs (personal development programs, Chapter Retreats, Risk Management initiatives), the funding needed to support quality programs comes from within its own membership. In addition, the growth of the scholarship and grants programs is essential to the education our members receive from their universities and college. In other words, Sinfonians provide life to a program by giving it it's "Pulse."

In the last ten years, the Fraternity has experienced unprecedented growth at the college level. With over 5,200 collegiate members, it is vital to the health of the organization that Sinfonians provide the best fraternal experience it can.

"I see where we are as an organization and it makes me joyous to see how much growth there has been over the last 10 years," says Linwood Young, Kappa Zeta (West Virginia Weslyan) '03. "The best part is knowing that it will only get better with the changes being made."

Less than a year ago, the Sinfonia Educational Foundation (SEF) launched a campaign that would allow
members of the Fraternity to support these programs. The "Pulse" campaign was designed to ensure that the SEF can continue to support the activities of future generations of Sinfonians for years to come.

"We know from our outreach to members from all walks of life that they have a true desire to get involved with the exciting future Sinfonia is creating for the upcoming generations," says Matt Garber, Mu Delta (Longwood) '99, director of development. "To make it easier to support Sinfonia's efforts without too extensive of a burden, we extended this recurring giving program to help booster support. A number of Sinfonians have already pledged to keep the heartbeat of Sinfonia strong."

"We give because we believe in this organization. With a small gift each month, it's easy and a great way to support Sinfonia," said Young.

With the launching of the Fraternity's Strategic Plan, the SEF realized the life it could breathe into the development of the initiatives to be reached. As a result, it was determined that a re-launch of the campaign was the spark needed for "Pulse" to meet its potential.

"The future of the Fraternity and its growth is dependent upon the support of our alumni. Through the Pulse campaign, the SEF is working hard to provide a vehicle for alumni to ensure Sinfonia's success," explains Derek Danilson, Beta Nu (Northern Iowa) '91, SEF president.

In the coming weeks, you will be receiving an e-mail asking for your support. By giving a "Pulse" to Sinfonia, you will be able to make a difference in lives of our members.
