October 6, 1898 Minutes
The minutes of the official first meeting of the Sinfonia Club are kept in the Fraternity’s archive located in Lyrecrest North. The minutes are securely archived for historical purposes. The transcript of the minutes reads as follows:
Minutes of meeting Oct. 6/98
Mr. Wade was appointed chairman.
Report of comm. on suggestions as to what the club should do with itself, was accepted.
Voted that a club be organized, to which shall be elligable [sic], any male student of the N.E.C.
Voted that the primary object of the club be sociability.
The election of officers was proceeded with; and the suggestion of the comm. to have four offices: President, Vice Pres. Secretary and Treasurer, was followed.
Eighteen votes were cast for Pres. But there being twenty two present, it was moved, seconded and carried that another ballot be cast, with the wish that each one would cast a vote. On the second ballot, Mr. Stone was chosen.
Mr. Briggs was elected Vice Pres.
It was voted to reconsider the idea of the comm. To have the offices of secretary and treasurer vested in one man, and upon reconsideration, it was voted to have a man for each office.
Mr. Stupp was elected secretary.
Mr. Wade was elected treasurer.
By a unanimous vote, Mr. Mills was elected an honorary member of the club.
Moved, seconded, and carried that the "chair" appoint a comm. on rules and regulations, upon which, the "chair" appointed Messrs. Webster, Tanner, and Day.
Voted to meet on the 20th of Oct., to hear report of comm. on rules and regulations.
